Branford Rec Hoop Standings Tighten Up


With nine weeks in the books, three teams are tied for first place in the Branford Recreation Department Men’s Basketball League standings. Branford Book & Card, G & G Earth Materials, and Warner Construction all sport records of 6-3 in league play thus far this season.

In the week’s marquee matchup, G & G Earth Materials gained a 92-70 decision against Branford Book & Card to put both teams at 6-3. Bradley Roth and co-captain Mike Nicoletti both scored 23 points to lead G & G to the victory. Harrison Levy scored 14 points, while Dylan Palluzzi added 13 points for the winning club. Dustin Ceccolini paced Book & Card’s offense by scoring 28 points and Andrew Johnson chipped in with 21 points.

Meanwhile, Warner Construction grabbed its share of first place by defeating Trap Runner 86-74. Tucker Esborn netted 21 points with co-captain Ryan Adinolfi scoring 15 to lead Warner (6-3). Jesse Mahon (13 points), Damien Speranza (13), and Brett Warner (10) rounded out Warner’s offensive attack. Trap Runner (5-4) was led by a 32-point performance from Joel Daniels. Ryan Figaro scored 13 points, plus Dan McNamara and DJ King had 10 points apiece for Trap Runner.

In other action, W.S. Clancy improved to 4-5 by scoring a 60-48 victory versus V.F. McNeil. Top draft pick Rob Howard scored 20 points, while co-captain Dan McGowan had 17 points to lead W.S. Clancy. John McGowan contributed 13 points in the win. Dan Litevich scored 22 points to lead V.F. McNeil (0-9).
