Competing as a team-of-one at the State Open Girls’ Swimming Championship on Nov. 19, junior Laura Rosado led East Haven-Wilbur Cross to a 27th-place finish out of 50 schools with a total of 47 points as she was a top-10 finisher in both of her events. Rosado competed in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100 backstroke at the Open at Yale University after qualifying with great times in the Class LL State Championship. At the Open, Rosado’s time of 57.34 seconds was good for third overall in the butterfly—less than two seconds off the leader, Kelly Montesi of Greenwich (55.65). In the 100 backstroke, Rosado placed eighth with a time of 58.75 seconds.

“She swam a personal-best time of 57.34 seconds in the fly and made All-State with that swim,” Head Coach Dave Oshana said of Rosado. “She’s a remarkable young lady and we are very proud to have her on our team.”

Rosado made All-SCC and All-State in the butterfly this season, along with earning All-SCC honors in the backstroke.
