The Guilford football team took a 44-0 loss to Hand on the road on Nov. 23 to finish its year with a record of 3-7. The contest marked the final game for Steve Filippone as Hand’s head coach.

Hand started the scoring with 2:11 to go in the first quarter when Brian Casagrande ran it in from two yards out to put the Tigers up 7-0. Casagrande then intercepted a Guilford pass at the Indians’ 34-yard line. Hand fumbled on the ensuing drive and Guilford picked up the ball at its own 5-yard line, but Indians’ quarterback Jack Strand was tackled by Jack Parker in the end zone for a safety and a 9-0 Hand advantage. Casagrande later scored from two yards out to put Hand ahead 16-0 with 6:03 remaining before halftime. The Indians later fumbled a kickoff return and Hand converted it into a touchdown and a 22-0 command on Nick Anderson’s 1-yard TD rush. Hand added another score shortly before halftime on Chris Bartosic’s 5-yard touchdown run for a 29-0 lead at the break.

In the second half, Brett Bilcheck sprinted 69 yards for a touchdown and 36-0 Tigers’ lead. Kevin Girardi then returned an interception 47 yards for the final touchdown of the game.
