Cyclists of varying skill levels took to the streets on Oct. 16 to raise funds and awareness for individuals with disabilities during the eight annual Vista Tour de Shore cycling event and fundraiser that was held in Westbrook. The event featured routes of five, 25, 40, and 60 miles on scenic roads along the shoreline, allowing participants the opportunity to enjoy beautiful fall foliage while they pedaled for a great cause.

With 215 registered riders representing approximately 30 teams, the event generated more than $82,000 for the Vista Endowment Fund, a supporting organization of Vista Life Innovations. With campuses in Westbrook, Madison, and Guilford, Vista is a post-secondary program that has been providing services and resources to individuals with disabilities for the past 26 years. Among the participants was two-time Olympic mountain biker Lea Davison, who rode alongside 21 students and members in Vista’s programs.

Vista would like to thank the Westbrook Elks Lodge, as well as the event’s sponsors, which were Zane’s Cycles, Thomson Bike Tours, Branford Jewelers, V.P. Electric Inc., Wells Fargo, Harbor News, Essex Printing, WebNow1, Essex Savings Bank, Gowrie Group, Pasta Vita, The Tolland Fund, Wilcox Energy, and Dignity Plus Home Care.
