Kate Daley Runs to All-Conference First Team Honors; Morgan Football Routs Granby Memorial

Girls’ Cross Country

The Huskies’ girls’ cross country squad didn’t place as a team at the Shoreline Conference Championship at Totoket Park in North Branford on Oct. 20, although junior Kate Daley earned All-Shoreline First Team honors by way of her ninth-place finish with a time of 20 minutes and 50 seconds. Also competing for Morgan were Liz Granfield (53rd, 25:08), Jenna Morello (54th, 25:08), and Phoebe Sullivan (65th, 28:19).

Boys’ Cross Country

Morgan finished 10th with 254 points for the Shoreline Conference Championship on Oct. 20 at North Branford’s Totoket Park. Thomas Southwood came in 30th place with a time of 19:32.20 to lead the Huskies. Will Roberts finished 45th (20:15.00), Brett Martin followed in 47th (20:16.90), Chase Lofgren raced to 65th place (21:22.20), Justin Mucha found 68th (21:38.50), Caleb Adams-Hull was 73rd (22:06.00), and Hayden Saranich paced to 80th (23:28.10).

Football

The Huskies improved to 4-2 after a 34-8 trouncing of Pequot Conference opponent Granby Memorial on Oct. 22. Morgan next travels to Ellington (4-2) for another Pequot contest on Friday, Oct. 28 with kickoff slated for 6:30 p.m.

Girls’ Soccer

The Huskies defeated Westbrook 3-1 on Oct. 17 and then tied East Hampton 1-1 on Oct. 20 to move to 7-5-2 for the season. The draw with East Hampton secured a home game against Valley Regional in the Shoreline Conference Tournament for the Huskies.

Boys’ Soccer

Morgan blanked Westbrook 3-0 on Oct. 17 defeated East Lyme 4-1 the next day. Morgan then took a 2-0 loss to East Hampton on Oct. 20 to go to 9-4-1. The Huskies will play at Valley Regional in the quarterfinals of the Shoreline Conference Tournament.

Field Hockey

Morgan lost by a 6-0 final to Westbrook on Oct. 18 and then dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to Norwich Free Academy on Oct. 22.
