The Cougars’ football squad routed Windsor Locks-Suffield-East Granby by a 41-16 final on Oct. 22 to go to 2-4 on the season.

HK scored the game’s first three touchdowns and went into the locker room with a commanding 27-8 lead. The Cougars put the game away in the third quarter by scoring two more touchdowns. Alex Segaline rushed for 160 yards on 15 carries and three touchdowns, plus he also caught a 58-yard TD pass to lead the Haddam-Killingworth offense. The Cougars’ defense caused three takeaways, which were interceptions by Noah Vinci, Kevin Dougherty, and Segaline. Vinci reeled off a 47-yard return after his interception.

“I was extremely pleased with the kids’ performance today. They came to play from the opening kickoff until the final whistle,” said Head Coach Mike Baklik. “We also won the turnover battle with the three picks on defense and no giveaways on offense. I always tell the kids when we play hard and protect the ball, the results are usually positive. That was definitely the case today.”

Next up, the Cougars host Coventry-Windham Tech-Bolton (3-3) on Friday, Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m.
