Knights’ Field Hockey Reaches Double-Digit Wins; Boys’ Soccer Ties Hale-Ray

Field Hockey

The Westbrook field hockey team won two more games against Shoreline Conference powers last week to improve its record to 10-1 this season.

On Oct. 10, Janet Dickey’s squad defeated Valley Regional 3-0. Zoe Ehlert, Biance Ferrucci, and Avery Bauman all scored in the victory, while Kendall Orlowski, Zoe Ehlert, and Alexa Mulvihill assisted on the goals. In net, Lauren Wright recorded five saves to clinch the shutout.

On Oct. 14, Westbrook defeated North Branford 1-0 to improve to 7-1 in Shoreline Conference action. Mulvihill scored the lone goal and tied Westbrook’s single-season scoring record with her 16th tally of the year. Wright recorded her seventh shutout by making one save.

Boys’ Soccer

The Knights played a pair of games last week, coming away with one tie and a defeat. On Oct. 10, Westbrook tied Hale-Ray by a 0-0 score. The Knights were then defeated by Old Saybrook, 5-0.

In the loss to Old Saybrook, Jake Marciniec made eight saves as the Knights’ offense was held to just five shots. Westbrook’s record is now 2-4-6 with four games remaining in the regular season.
