Huskies’ Girls’ Soccer, Volleyball Both Collect Their Fifth Victories

Girls’ Soccer

The Huskies’ girls’ soccer squad earned its fifth win of the season by posting a 6-0 shutout of Hale-Ray on Oct. 4. Scoring goals for Morgan in the victory were Alyssa LeMay, Robyn Vuilleumier, Isabella Ranaudo, Maddi Emmi, Olivia Digiandomenico, and Grace Roman. Assisting on those goals were Courtney Viglione (2), Digiandomenico, Mikayla Mancini, LeMay, and Erin LeViness. Rebecca Cockley (1 save) and Kate Driscoll combined for the shutout bid as the Huskies won the shots-on-goal battle by an 11-1 margin.

Morgan then took a 1-0 loss to Sheehan on Oct. 8. Driscoll made five saves for the Huskies, who dropped to 5-4-1 with the defeat.

Volleyball

Morgan stands at 5-8 this year after losing two of its three matchups last week. The Huskies took a 3-1 loss to Fitch on Oct. 3 and were then swept by Haddam-Killingworth by the final of 25-15, 25-10, 25-17 on Oct. 5. Morgan ended its week on a high note by sweeping Old Lyme 3-0 on Oct. 7.

Girls’ Cross Country

Freshman Kate Daley came in first place overall on behalf of Morgan at Husky Run that took place at Indian River Complex on Sept. 29. This was the Huskies' only home meet of the season and Daley crossed the finish line with a time of 21 minutes and 23 seconds in her victorious performance. Jenna Morello ran 25:26.7 to place second for the Huskies, while Elizabeth Granfield took third at 25:26.9. The meet also marked Morgan's Senior Night. The Huskies' seniors are Morello, Granfield, Autumn Johnson, and Julia Zirkelbach.

Field Hockey

The Huskies dropped a 5-1 decision against Valley Regional on Oct. 5. Aryn McQuarrie scored with seven minutes left in the contest for the Huskies, who saw Sofia Sicignano make a dozen saves.
