Westbrook Field Hockey Inches Closer to States Berth

Field Hockey

The Knights’ field hockey squad stands at 6-1 overall and is currently 4-1 in Shoreline Conference action following its games last week.

On Sept. 26 against Stafford, Westbrook played to a 5-1 victory to come one step closer to sealing a spot in states. Alexa Mulvihill recorded a hat trick and also finished with a pair of assists for the Knights, who saw Biance Ferrucci net the other two goals. Zoe Ehlert, Carolyn Bauman, and Avery Bauman all finished with an assist, while Lauren Wright and Ingrid Bauman combined to earn the win in goal.

On Sept. 28 against Shoreline power Haddam-Killingworth, Westbrook took its first loss of the season by a score of 1-0. Wright made four saves in goal as Westbrook had its chances with seven penalty corners.

Boys’ Soccer

Westbrook was defeated in its two Shoreline Conference games last week, marking the first losses of the year for the Knights. Westbrook now has a record of 2-2-4 for the season.

On Sept. 26, Valley topped Westbrook 4-0. Then on Sept. 29, the Knights were defeated by Cromwell by a 2-0 score.

Girls’ Soccer

The Knights lost both of their games last week to drop to 2-6 for the season.

On Sept. 26, Valley defeated Westbrook 2-0 as Lexi Vumback made 18 saves in goal.

On Sept. 29, Cromwell topped Westbrook by a 7-2 score. Christina Matute-Heredia scored the first goal on an assist from Kelly Donlan and Erin Metcalfe later found the back of the net following a pass from Gabby Ehlert.
