Morgan Football Bounces Back by Beating North Branford; Girls’ Soccer Gets Fourth Win

Football

The Morgan football team moved to 3-1 this year after earning a 20-13 victory against Pequot Conference rival North Branford at the Peters Complex on Sept. 30. The deciding score came with just 15 seconds left in regulation, when Madden Ward threw a touchdown pass to Harry White to put the Huskies ahead for good.

After a bye week, the Huskies travel to Cromwell for a Pequot Conference contest against unbeaten Cromwell-Portland (3-0) on Friday, Oct. 14. at 6 p.m.

Girls’ Soccer

The Huskies took a close 2-1 loss to Cromwell on Sept. 26 and then rebounded with a 3-0 shutout of Haddam-Killingworth three days later to go to 4-3-1.

Against Cromwell, Alyssa LeMay scored the lone goal for Morgan with Courtney Viglione supplying the assist. Kate Driscoll had six saves in net, while Becky Cockley made a save.

In the Haddam-Killingworth victory, Robyn Vuilleumier, Viglione, and LeMay accounted for the Huskies’ goal scoring, while Vuilleumier and Grace Roman had the assists. Driscoll made seven saves for Morgan.

Boys’ Soccer

Morgan endured its first loss of the year with a 2-0 defeat to Cromwell on Sept. 26. The Huskies then took a 1-0 loss to Haddam-Killingworth on Sept. 28 to move to 4-2-1.

Volleyball

The Huskies are now 4-6 after taking a 3-0 loss to Hale-Ray on Sept. 26, a five-set defeat versus Coginchaug two days later, and a 3-1 loss versus Cromwell on Sept. 30.

Field Hockey

Morgan lost a 2-1 contest to Somers on Sept. 27. After that, Huskies were edged out by that same final versus Old Saybrook on Sept. 30. The Huskies then lost 3-0 to East Lyme on Oct. 1.
