Field Hockey

The Westbrook field hockey improved to 5-0 for the year with wins over North Branford and Morgan last week.

On Sept. 21, the Knights topped North Branford 1-0 as Alexa Mulvihill scored unassisted midway through the second half. Lauren Wright made nine saves to preserve the shutout and propel the Knights to a big win over their fellow Shoreline Conference stalwart.

Westbrook later topped Morgan 4-0 on Sept. 23 as Mulvihill, Zoe Ehlert, Biance Ferrucci, and Alex Young each scored a goal. Ehlert had two assists, while Mulvihill and Ferrucci both recorded one. Splitting time in goal were Wright and Ingrid Bauman as Westbrook’s defense played a spectacular game to record the shutout.

Boys’ Soccer

The Knights maintained their unblemished record last week and currently sport a mark of 2-0-4 through their first six contests. Last week started with a 0-0 tie versus North Branford on Sept. 20 and then Westbrook defeated Portland by a 4-1 score on Sept. 22.

Against North Branford, Jason Raunikar recorded a hat trick for the Knights and Sebastian Mejia added the fourth goal. Jake Marciniec made five saves in net for the victory.

Westbrook finished last week’s action with a 1-1 tie with Hale-Ray on Sept. 24. Mejia scored the lone goal for the Knights and Marciniec had five saves in goal.

Girls’ Soccer

Westbrook dropped its first two games last week with a 3-0 defeat to North Branford and 5-0 loss versus Portland, but the Knights finished things off with a solid performance in a 6-0 victory over Hale-Ray on Sept. 24. The win improved the Knights to 2-4 this season.

In the Hale-Ray victory, the Knights’ goals were scored by Renee Perregaux, Erin Meltcalfe, Gabby Ehlert, Juliana Fabrizi, Christina Matute-Heredia, and Alyssa Esposito. Ehlert, Matute-Heredia, and Fabrizi each recorded an assist and Lexi Koplas made four saves to record the shutout.
