Clinton Country Club’s head golf professional Sean Busca and his professional staff recently conducted a golf skills clinic for the Special Olympics Central Shoreline golf team at the club on Aug. 29. The Clinton Country Club golf staff has been conducting these clinics for the past six years behind the enthusiastic support of the club’s board of directors and its golf committee.

Ten Central Shoreline Special Olympian golfers participated in the skills clinic with help from their coach Jackie Beck, along with Erin O’Reilly, the Central Shoreline local coordinator. Busca and Clinton Country Club members Brian McGlone, Bob Rawden, Jim Lamb, and Keven Saunders volunteered their time and the club donated the use of its golf course and practice facility.

The new, fully accredited Special Olympics Central Shoreline program is the result of a merger of two former Special Olympics programs: Special Olympics SARAH and Special Olympics Shoreline Recreation. SARAH Inc., has since been an advocate for Special Olympics Connecticut and its mission for many years. Grants from the Connecticut section of the PGA have also helped support the Special Olympics golf team for the last few years.
