T-Birds’ Girls’ Soccer Earns Two Ties; Cross Country Runs at Invitational

Girls’ Soccer

The Thunderbirds’ moved to 1-1-2 for the season with two ties and a loss in last week’s action.

After defeating East Haven 2-1 at home in the season opener, North Branford played Old Saybrook to a 0-0 tie on Sept. 12. It was an even game as the T-Birds forced Old Saybrook goalie Kelsey True to make nine saves. In goal for North Branford, Allie Augur had eight stops for the shutout.

On Sept. 15, Morgan defeated North Branford 2-0. Augur made six stops in the loss.

The T-Birds then took the field against Law on Sept. 17 and played them to a 2-2 tie. Jenna Bryden and Ana Pavic found the back of the net for North Branford, while Augur made 17 saves to preserve the tie.

Boys’ Cross Country

North Branford participated in the Connecticut River Valley Invitational meet at Cromwell on Sept. 17.

The T-Birds’ performances included Michael Madoule, who place 30th with a time of 18:21, along with Parker Nadeau (47th, 18:35); Jared Jamieson (63rd, 19:42); Zachary Jamieson (69th, 20:07); Patrick Miconi (81st, 21:58); Michael Rabuffo (83rd, 22:22); and Joe Delucia (84th, 22:22).

Girls’ Cross Country

The Thunderbirds took part in the Connecticut River Valley Invitational at Cromwell on Sept. 17.

For North Branford, Winnie Chan finished 72nd at 24:23 and Jillian Damiani was 81st with a mark of 24.53.
