Erin Metcalfe, Marilyn Ulanozwicz, and Ehlert all had an assist, while Christina Matute assisted on two goals. Lexi Vumback made three saves in the win.

“The girls played great. It was important to start off on a positive note,” McConville said. “I have been throwing a lot of new information at the girls and they did an excellent job of implementing our game-plan. I am looking forward to a competitive season.”

Field Hockey

In a home game, the Westbrook field hockey team defeated Suffield 4-0 on Sept. 10 to start the year at 1-0. Biance Ferrucci scored two goals for the Knights, plus Alexa Mulvihill and Cassie Vitti each had one score. “We are very excited to start the season with a solid performance from everyone,” said Head Coach Janet Dickey. “There are still some small things to clean up, but at this point, we are very pleased with the girls’ effort and how much work they put in during the offseason.”
