Alaska Named MVP for North Branford Boys’ Track

The North Branford boys’ outdoor track squad celebrated its spring season at the team’s annual awards banquet. Head Coach Floyd Parness detailed the team’s highlights from the campaign and handed out awards to some of the Thunderbirds’ top athletes.

North Branford didn’t score any points at the Class M State Championship, but the team still put forth some solid showings. Jason Alaska ran the 100-meter dash in 11.78 seconds, Jacob Marshall finished the 200 at 24.07, and Frank Laudano reached a height of 10 feet-6 inches in the pole vault. The T-Birds’ 4x100 relay of Michael Odell, Laudano, Alaska, and Marshall finished with a mark of 47.01, while the 4x400 relay team of Alaska, Odell, Marshall, and Austin Gibilisco set a personal record time of 3:37.84.

Upon the campaign’s conclusion, Alaska was selected as North Branford’s Most Valuable Player, Marshall won the Desire and Dedication Award, Michael Rabuffo was named Rookie of the Year, and Richard Hernandez and Laudano both earned the team’s Coaches Award.
