Guilford Senior Legion Makes States, Loses in First Round

Senior American Legion Baseball

The Guilford Senior Legion baseball team earned a State Tournament bid by virtue of a recording a third-place finish in Zone 3 with a record of 12-12 this summer. Post 48 took a 1-0 loss to Hamden on July 16 in the single elimination portion of the Southern Division sectionals. Guilford finished the year 12-13 overall.

Junior American Legion Baseball

Guilford won its last game of the 2016 season and finished the campaign with a record of 4-20.

First up last week, Post 48 took a 5-1 loss to Wallingford on July 11. Pitching for Guilford were Casey Johnson (5.1 innings), Jack Alviti (1), and James Walker (0.2).

Post 48 then took a 13-1 defeat to Cheshire two days later.

After that, Post 48 lost a 7-0 decision to Middletown Red on July 14, but then finished the year on a high note by notching a 5-1 victory over East Haddam on July 15. Johnson pitched a complete game in that win.
