The Shoreline Cougars 18-U AAU baseball team was victorious in its lone contest last week and increased its winning streak to eight games. The Cougars are now 10-2-1 on the year.

On July 7, the Cougars nipped the Connecticut Edge 6-5 at Sheehan High School as Valley Regional graduate Nash Eppard pitched four innings for the victory, while striking out 11. Owen Marica of Haddam-Killingworth pitched the remaining three innings for Shoreline after rain delay. Tyler Popp of HK had two hits and two RBI, HK’s Luke Bauer had a double and two runs scored, Scott Masse of Old Saybrook had a hit and an RBI, while Eppard and former Valley teammate Michael Martorelli each had a hit for the Cougars.

“I thought the kids played well coming off the long break,” said Head Coach Dennis Annicelli. “It always makes it easier when Nash is pitching. He takes tons of pressure off everyone because you know the other team isn’t gonna hit much. He could have went deeper, but I wanted to keep him out after the fourth inning rain delay.”
