Madison Junior Legion Takes Three Before a Few Defeats

The Madison Junior Legion Baseball team began the year at 3-0 after taking two games from East Haddam by 3-2 and 9-2 finals on June 3 and 4, respectively, prior to edging Branford 1-0 in nine innings in non-zone action on June 7. Post 79 then took a 7-5 home loss to Zone 3 foe Cheshire on June 11, dropped a home doubleheader to Cheshire by score of 7-2 and 7-1 the next day, lost 5-1 in Cheshire on June 13, and then lost 6-3 at home against Zone 3 squad Middletown Red on June 15. Madison owns a record of 0-4 in Zone 3 play and is 3-5 overall.

Pitching for Madison in its season-opening win over East Haddam were Kevin Tracy (2 inning), Ian Butler (1 inning), Brad Cosgriff (2 frames), and Jake Salutari (1 inning).

Appearing on the bump for Post 79 in the second victory were Graeme McGivern (2 innings), Will Kleinhenz (1 inning), Will McIntosh (2 innings), and Emmett Tolis (2 innings).

Facing Branford, Butler worked three innings on the hill for Madison.

In the first game of the Cheshire series, Butler pitched five innings.
