Thompson Named MVP for Valley Girls’ Hoops


Sophomore Carly Thompson averaged 12.5 points per game and was named the Most Valuable Player for the Valley Regional girls’ basketball team this season.

The Valley Regional girls’ basketball team held its annual postseason banquet on March 13 at the Deep River Ambulance Barn, where the Warriors announced this year’s award winners.

Sophomore Carly Thompson, who led the Warriors in scoring with 12.5 points per game, was named the team’s Most Valuable Player. Thompson was also an Honorable Mention for the All-Shoreline Conference Team. Junior Brianna O’Brien took home the Defensive Player of the Year Award. Freshman Alexis Finnerty, who scored 12 points a contest, was the Rookie of the Year. Fellow freshman Heather Jones received the Coaches Award, which is presented to the player who consistently shows the best hustle, effort, and attitude in both practices and games.

First-year Head Coach Geoff Konstan and the Warriors went 7-13 in the recent campaign.
