Quarterback Christian Lupoli of East Haven continued the pipeline of football players from Notre Dame-West Haven to the University of New Hampshire by signing his National Letter of Intent to become a Wildcat on Feb. 3. New Hampshire competes in the second tier of Division I, which is called the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division !-AA).

Lupoli, who’s also played hockey and golf for the Green Knights, helped guide Notre Dame to back-to-back State Playoff berths the last two years, including an appearance in the 2014 Class L Small Division state title game as a junior.

Lupoli played occasionally as a freshma and then became entrenched as Notre Dame’s starter as a sophomore and helped lead Notre Dame to consecutive nine-win seasons as a junior and senior. He accumulated an overall record of 23-13 in his three years starting, while throwing for 4,545 yards and rushing for 1,789. He threw 39 touchdown passes and ran for 16 more.

Despite missing a pair of games in his recent senior year, Lupoli completed 61 percent of his passes, throwing for 1,705 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also ran 128 times for 679 yards and 10 scores. He had three games rushing for over 100 yards. Notre Dame qualified for the Class L State Playoffs, beating Harding in the quarterfinals before losing to eventual champion New Canaan in the semifinals.
