Guilford’s Teasdale Shines at Statewide Equestrian Competition

Guilford’s Kennedy Teasdale, age nine, of the Movado Farm Equestrian Team, placed first and was the state champion in two different divisions at the Connecticut Horse Show Association (CHSA) State Finals at the Shallowbrook Equestrian Center in Somers on Aug. 23. The finalists represented over 1,200 riders from throughout the state. Riders needed to accumulate points from multiple competitions during the 2014-’15 regular season shows in order to qualify for the CHSA Finals competition.

Teasdale placed first in the Children’s Pleasure Pony Division and was also tops in the Short Stirrup Hunter Over Fences Division while riding her pony, Holly, who goes by the show name “Lots of Dots.”

“Kennedy is a hard-working, diligent student and that is reflected in her riding. She is a lovely person, inside and out, and she and Holly make a great team,” said trainer Louisa Fedora of Durham’s Movado Farm.

In addition to her equestrian pursuits, Teasdale is a rising 4th-grade student at the Melissa Jones School and a parishioner of St. George Church. She is the daughter of William and Cara Mulqueen-Teasdale of Guilford.

“Our goal this year was to qualify for CHSA Finals and have a safe and successful show experience,” explained Fedora. “We surpassed this and are very proud of Kennedy’s two Connecticut state championship titles.”

The CHSA was established in 1928 to encourage and promote the interest of Connecticut horse shows, which include hunters, jumpers, dressage, driving, English and Western Pleasure, and all equitation seats. Its intent is to give young riders, both amateurs and professionals, a chance to compete for awards, while trying to improve their skills or the skills of their horses.
