Sciacca Helps Braves Move to 3rd in Deep River Horseshoe League


John Sciacca made his mark in the B Division of the Deep River Horseshoe League during Week 12 action. Sciacca, who competes for the third-place Braves, recorded a score of 101 to lead B shooters on the week. He was followed by Paul Noel (100) and Warren Bellows (94). In achieving his total, Sciacca (pictured) also posted a game score of 42, which tied Ed Turner for the high game in the B tier on the season.

Elsewhere, Chip Goodrich once again led way among A shooters by turning in a 132. Butch Caratunoto placed second at 127 and Ket Bounphakdy was third (117).

For competition in the C Division, Mike Kennedy put together another triumphant performance by tallying up 115 points. John Hutra came in second (97) and Bill Brown took third with a 92. Kennedy still holds the best high game for C shooters this year with his 44 and Hutra moved into second at 41 by surpassing Brown’s mark of 35.

For the team standings, the Red Sox (47-25) increased their lead in the top spot by a game and now lead the Giants (42.5-29.5) by 4.5 games. Spurred by Sciacca, the Braves moved up two spots to third place (40.5-31.5). The Reds are in fourth (40-32) with the Orioles holding down fifth (38.5-33.5).
