07/25/2015 12:00 AMBill’s Seafood Restaurant of Westbrook recently announced the Bill’s Seafood Scholar/Athlete Scholarship Awards for 2015. The recipients were (standing) Erin Fitzgerald (Old Saybrook), Alan Esposito (Clinton), Ethan Petroka (Ivoryton), Ryan Kennedy (Old Saybrook), and Bruce Hayes (Westbrook); along with (seated) Jennifer Dawson (Clinton), Koran Kholsa (Old Saybrook), Leah Ann Sopneski (Deep River), and Lydia Murphy (Westbrook).
The awards come from the proceeds of the Bill’s Seafood Golf Tournament and are annually awarded to student-athlete graduates of area high schools. The recipients collectively received a total of $15,000 from the tournament proceeds. The recipients are a male and a female student who, during their high school years, have demonstrated positive character, leadership, and good citizenship qualities. They also participated in their school sports programs and plan to further their education in a four-year college, junior college, or business or vocational school.
