07/03/2015 12:00 AMThe Clinton Chamber of Commerce and Shoreline Community Women, Inc., will host the 18th annual Snap Fitness Bluefish 5K Road Race on Saturday, Aug. 15.
The 5K (3.1-mile) race course begins and ends at the Jared Eliot Middle School on 69 Fairy Dell Road in Clinton. Race-day registrations begin at 7 a.m. and the start time of the race is at 9 a.m. Registration is $25 until Sunday, Aug. 9 and $30 on the day of the race. Registration forms are available at www.clintonct.com/road-race, from participating sponsors, or at the Clinton Chamber of Commerce at 50 East Main Street. In addition, online registration is available at www.active.com. Last year's race drew more than 400 entrants.
Free parking is available at The Joel School and Peter's Complex on Glenwood Road, which are less than one mile from the Eliot School race site. Free shuttle buses will run continuously from 7 until 8:45 a.m., when registration closes. Buses will run again following the race. The race features a certified track, free bag check in, swag bags, and multiple vendors on site, including pre- and post-race massage. Mile markers will be measured as such from the course certification and there will be several water stations along the route. The Clinton Police Department will close the race route to all vehicular traffic between 9 and 10 a.m. due to safety concerns.
Race ceremonies and refreshments begin at the conclusion of the race. Music will be provided by disc jockey Anthony Buzzeo and Sounds by DJ Buzz. For more info, contact the race coordinator at the Clinton Chamber of Commerce 860-669-3889.
