Bohonnon and McKinnon Make U.S. Ski History with World Cup Crowns

Following the final race for the Freestyle Ski World Cup campaign on March 1 in Minsk, Belarus, the United States Aerials Team saw Madison residents Mac Bohonnon and Kiley McKinnon each finish second for the day with both claiming an overall season title for the men's and women's sides, respectively, marking the first time there were simultaneous season championships for both genders in U.S. team history.

Bohonnon's championship came by way of his 491 season points and was the first title for the United States on the men's side since 2005. He scored an overall total of 119.91 on the day, which was less than three points off the winning pace set by Oleksandr Abramenko.

In her final race, McKinnon, who finished with 407 points in the season's final World Cup standings, placed as the runner-up and was 14 points behind winner Ashley Caldwell (99.68). With her first-place season finish, McKinnon made herself the first U.S. woman since 1998 to bring home a season crown.
