Barnett Finishes 9th in State for Épée; Corrigan Wrestles at Regionals

Girls' Fencing

For the Individual State Championship on March 7 at Hopkins, Erin Barnett had the team's best finish of the day, ending up in ninth place for épée. In girls' foil, the day's best performance was turned in by Amanda Thompson, who finished in 16th place.

Based on the individual results for the day, girls' foil has qualified as the No. 4 seed for the Team State Championship on Saturday, March 14 at Bridgeport Central and will take on No. 5 Bacon Academy in the first round.

Wrestling

Jordan Corrigan represented Morgan in the 220-pound weight class at the New England Championship in Braintree, Massachusetts on March 6 and 7 and went 1-2 for the draw, defeating Xavier Giddings of St. Johnsbury, Vermont by pinfall at 1:26.

Boys' Basketball

Morgan went 11-9 for the regular season, drew the No. 22 seed for the Class S State Tournament, and traveled to No. 11 Old Saybrook (13-7) in the first round on March 10. A win there would put the Huskies into the second round on Thursday, March 12 at 7 p.m. with either a game at No. 6 Valley Regional (18-5) or at home versus No. 27 Wheeler (10-10).
