Boys' Ice Hockey Edges East Haven, 4-3

Chris Cafiero collected a goal and two assists in Guilford boys' ice hockey's 4-3 win over East Haven on Jan. 17 for the Indians' second triumph of the season.

On Jan. 17, Guilford boys' ice hockey knocked off East Haven at DiLungo Rink by a 4-3 final to improve to 2-5.

Kevin Gaudio (with assists from Matt Clifford and Jack Petrick) and Chris Cafiero (from Clifford) helped the Indians take a 2-1 edge after the first period. After the Yellowjackets tied it during the second, Rick Sandella put Guilford ahead in that same stanza again with feeds from Cafiero and Alex Corso. Gaudio then notched his second tally by lighting the lamp for the eventual game-winner at 8:30 of the third. East Haven outshot Guilford 33-21, but Kyle Dwyer made 30 saves.

"We played hard and was able to regain the lead after East Haven battled back to tie it up 2-2 and then 3-3," said Head Coach Ralph Russo. "Great efforts on defense by Matt Clifford and Ryan Brand. On the offensive side, a strong game for Chris Cafiero with a goal and two assists. Congrats to Kevin Gaudio for converting two shots for goals. He scored our first to get us the lead and scored the last to get us the win. Kyle Dwyer made some key saves in turning back 30 shots."
