HK Soccer Club Holds Breast Cancer Awareness Event

On Oct. 25, the Haddam-Killingworth Soccer Club held an event with games at Killingworth Recreation Park for breast cancer awareness that involved seven squads. The home team players in each of the games wore pink socks, while the visiting players were given pink wrist bands after the games, and the soccer balls were also pink.

The event was run by the HK Soccer Club and sponsored by Running Brook Farms, Killingworth Garage, CB Moves, Country Clover Leaf, Dino's Pizza, Country Package Store, Killingworth Family Pharmacy, Killingworth True Value, Cozy Corner Bake Shop, Cooking Company, Jack's Country Restaurant, and Teri's Package Store, which all raised both awareness and funds. The event, through donations of pastries from many members of the HK Soccer Club families and HK Middle School 8th-grade Unified Arts class with teacher Matt Thomas, raised almost $700 for breast cancer awarness. The event was also a fundraiser for Mission Soccer and they were on hand to collect slightly used soccer equipment for their cause.
