Morgan Volleyball Swept in State Semis


Ashlyn Chidsey and 3rd-seeded Morgan volleyball suffered a 3-0 loss to No. 2 Seymour in the Class S State Tournament semifinal on Nov. 12 at East Haven to conclude their year with an overall mark of 23-3.

The 3rd-seeded Morgan volleyball squad took on No. 2 Seymour in a Class S State Tournament semifinal on Nov. 12 at East Haven and suffered a 3-0 loss (25-22, 25-23, 25-21) as the Huskies ended their season with an overall mark of 23-3.

Kait Anderson led in kills with 10 while Jen Dawson added nine. Defensively, Vivian Tran collected four blocks and, for digs, Dawson dropped in a dozen and Sami Ashton tallied 11. Emily Popp passed out 28 assists.

The first game saw the sides tied at 15 and the Wildcats later held a two-point edge before the 25-22 victory.

The Huskies were up 15-8 during the second, but Seymour later regained a lead at 18-17 prior to the Wildcats ending the set with a 7-2 spurt.

In the third, both sides were again even, this time at 14. Seymour went ahead 19-15 and then completed the sweep.
