Football

Haddam-Killingworth hosted Old Saybrook/Westbrook on Oct. 31 and emerged with a 43-13 victory to put the Cougars at 4-4 after four straight wins.

Alex Segaline threw four touchdown passes, including two to Nate DeRita (of 4 and 24 yards) and another pair to Hunter Czaja (23 and 12-yard tosses). Josh Breiling also had two scores for the Cougars, both on runs of one yard. HK scored the first four touchdowns of the game and took an insurmountable 36-6 lead into halftime.

"Noah Vinci showed his versatility, starting on defense at cornerback, running the ball capably on several occasions, and returning punts for positive yardage four times in the game," said Head Coach Mike Baklik. "I was very pleased with our first half because we played well in all phases of the game. I was not as pleased with our second half effort; we let down some. We still need to learn how to play four complete quarters of football."
