Madison Resident Qualifies for U.S. Senior Amateur Tourney


Lynda Milligan Foster, a Madison resident since 1991, qualified for the third time on August 21 for the U.S. Women's Senior Amateur Tournament (Foster also qualified in 2007 and 2008). More than 500 women aged 50+ in the United States vied for 132 spots at the national championship run by the United States Golf Association (USGA). This year's championship will be held at the Hollywood Country Club in Deal, New Jersey on Saturday, Sept. 13 through Thursday, Sept. 18.

In addition to this latest accomplishment, Foster (pictured) has many others, which include: Connecticut State Women's Golf Association champion (in 2005 and 2010); Connecticut State Father-Daughter Champion (2000); Connecticut Mixed Team champion (2002, 2004, and 2005); Connecticut Amateur Senior Champion (2003); Connecticut Amateur Super Senior Champion (2014); Women's Metropolitan Golf Association Sanford Cup Match Play Champion (2009); 27 Club Championships, including 14 consecutive at the Madison Country Club; and a Madison Country Club course-record 3-under-par 69 on July 18, 2000.
