Hand Cheer Brings Home Accolades from UCA Camp

The Hand cheerleading team completed a weekend at the UCA (Universal Cheerleading Association) Camp at Westfield State University in Westfield, Massachusetts-coming home with a championship trophy in the Home Dance Pom Routine and a very special plaque given to the team that exemplifies what a cheer team should be in the "Tradition" plaque, which is for inspiring leadership on and off the field.

The Tigers also had three cheerleaders picked to the UCA Varsity All-American Cheer team and they were Grace Powell, Morgan Werth, and Devon Piekarz. These cheerleaders are invited to march in the New Year's Day parade in London.

Lastly, another special award is the "UCA Pin It Forward" award. This is voted on by the UCA staff and then the campers. The award is for the cheerleaders who stood out during the week not only in skill but also in sportsmanship and Madison Katz and Sydney Sutcliffe were chosen for this award. The team learned several new stunts, a dance, and a cheer while at the camp.
