Girls' Tennis Falls in the State Quarterfinals


Kate Dinauer and Guilford girls' tennis scored a first-round win over Killingly in the Class M State Ttournament before a tough 4-3 loss to Wilton in the quarterfinals.

The Guilford girls' tennis team entered the Class M State Tournament as the No. 5 seed and scored a 6-1 win over No. 21 Killingly at home on June 2 in the first round. However, the next day at home against No. 13 Wilton, the Indians took a 4-3 loss to end the season 19-5 overall.

Against Wilton, Anna Babbin (6-1, 6-1), Emily Etter (6-4, 7-5), and Claire Dinauer (6-4, 6-0) were victors for Guilford.

In the State Open Tournament later in the week, Babbin and Kristen Forscher took first-round defeats, with Babbin to top-seeded Hannah Dahlem of Avon (8-2) and Forscher to Claire Foster of Amity (8-1). Rebecca Eige and Genevieve Wilson also took a loss in the opening round on the doubles side (8-1) to Amity's Lauren Zorena and Rebecca Bullers.
