02/17/2013 11:00 PMVin Fasulo scored on a slap shot in overtime to lift North Haven ice hockey to a 3-2 triumph against Cheshire on Feb. 16.
The Indians trailed the Rams 2-1 late in regulation before Karl Anderson scored from Chris Lion to tie it. Dylan Van Bramer scored on a rebound of a Fasulo shot to give Tom Roche's squad a 1-0 lead in the opening frame. With the win, North Haven improved to 4-9-2 and needs to win three of its final five games to make states.
Gymnastics
Gabby Gontarek took first place on the floor routine with a score of 8.15 to go with placing second on vault (8.3) and second on beam (7.5) en route to finishing second in the all-around with a mark of 31.85 to lead North Haven gymnastics to a 65.4-57.65 win against Branford on Feb. 16. Marie Facin came in third on beam (7.65) and fourth on floor (7.0) in finishing fourth in the all-around for the Indians, who also saw Amanda Macolino place fourth on bars (7.4) and third on beam (6.1).
