Megargee and Smith Lead Team Connecticut in Gymnastics Senior Showcase


Team Connecticut and Hand gymnasts Kimmy Megargee and Maia Smith placed eighth out of 14 states represented in the Senior Showcase Invitational in Estero, Florida. Smith competed in all four events, scoring an all-around of 30.6. Her high scores included an 8.45 on vault and an 8.1 on floor. Megargee competed in three events, scoring a 9.175 on vault, 9.325 on floor, and 9.35 on beam. Megargee qualified to event finals and the second day of competition on beam and floor. On the second day, she placed second on beam with a score of 9.375 and 10th on floor with a score of 9.35. The second place finish on beam is the highest placing of any Connecticut gymnast in a number of years, according to Hand gymnastics coach Kelly Smith.
