05/15/2012 12:00 AMGuilford's co-ed crew team hosted its last home race before the state final. The girls' varsity boats swept their events against a competitive E.O. Smith opponent. The boys' varsity traded finishes with E.O. Smith by taking the first boat, while Guilford's second boat beat both. All the racing was close, according to Guilford Coach Will Thompson, with boats challenging each other down the 1,400-meter course.
At the novice level, E.O. Smith took firsts over Guilford's boys' and girls' boats. Over the season, the Guilford girls' experienced boats have won all their events except one, while the girls' third boat remains undefeated. The program now goes to the State Championships on Sunday, May 20.
