Hand Gymnastics Improves to 2-0

The Hand gymnastics team is off to a quick start to the season, improving to 2-0 with a Jan. 11 win over Southern Connecticut Conference foe Law, 136.75-127.85.

"We were able to make a statement to SCC rival Law that we are working hard and looking good for the SCC Championship later this season," said Hand Coach Kelly Smith.

Senior captain Kimmy Megargee led the way with a 36.4 in the all-around, 9.35 on floor and beam, and 9.15 on the vault. Fellow senior co-captain Maia Smith posted a 33.85 on the all-around with an 8.9 on beam and 8.55 on the floor. Sophomores Kendall Jerzyk (33.75 all-around, 9.0 on the floor, and 8.4 on the vault) and Maria Iennaco (31.2 all-around and 8.3 on the floor) also competed for the Tigers, while freshman Madi McNielly scored well on the vault with an 8.45.

"We were very pleased with our performance and our improvement in our team score," Smith said. "We still had some falls today, but overall, we looked stronger, especially on the floor exercise."
