With the squad putting up incredible numbers in each meet, both individually and as a team, the Warriors won state titles in 2009, 2010, and 2011. With more than half of their team having graduated, Valley gymnastics returns a couple of solid athletes and two newcomers that promise to try to take the Warriors back to familiar territory in the Class S state meet.
Coached by Carl Cavrell and assisted by Monica Bauer and Maureen Pokorny, the senior-less squad will be led by captain Maggie Calamari-a member of the state champion unit last season-as well as returnee Jenna Armenia and newcomers Mikayla Connor and Julianna Alvord, both freshmen.
Valley begins its season on Dec. 28 in a meet against Haddam-Killingworth, Hale-Ray, Old Saybrook, Old Lyme, and Stonington at Flip Flop Gymnastics in Deep River.
