Hand Shows Off All-American Spirit

On July 10, the Hand cheerleading squad took home gold at the Universal Cheerleading Association Competition Cheer Camp held at Southern Connecticut State University. In 20 years, only two Hand cheerleaders have attained to UCA All-American cheerleading status-Maddie Reyka in 2009 and Christine Donat in 2010. This year, three Hand varsity cheerleaders were named All-Americans and competed against 250 other cheerleaders to win the recognition. They were Kaylee Lewis (captain), Donat (two-time winner), and Tiffany Kaufmann. All competed in a dance, jump, performance, and sideline competition. All varsity girls were also asked to march in the London Parade during winter break. Also, for the first time in 20 years Hand fielded a junior varsity squad. Kayla Citrin won as Hand's first JV competitor for Freshman All-American and was invited to march in the Philadelphia parade. Photo and information courtesy of Michelle Kaufmann
