The Lyme Art Association PresentsPoint of View and True Blue

Lyme Art Association is hosting two concurrent shows, Point of View and True Blue.

The opening reception for both shows is Friday, Aug, 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lyme Art Association, 90 Lyme Street, Old Lyme. Point of View and True Blue are on view from Aug. 12 to Sept. 22 and are open to the public. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday, and by appointment.

Point of View, the 101st Annual Elected Artists Show will showcase the best of the best in representational art from the association’s elected artists, who are considered the most accomplished artists and the torch-bearers for the American representational tradition. They follow directly in the footsteps of the Lyme Art Colony artists who hung their Tonalist and Impressionist works on the walls of the local library in 1901.

Running concurrently is True Blue. Considered beneficial to the mind and body, the color blue elicits a sense of tranquility and healing. In this exhibit, associated artists submitted work where blue is the predominant or most significant color in the piece.

Chelsea Groton Bank is the Supporting Sponsor.

The Lyme Art Association was founded in 1914 by the American Impressionists and continues the tradition of exhibiting and selling representational artwork by its members and invited artists, as well as offering art instruction and lectures to the community.
