The public is invited to join a stewardship event at The Preserve in Old Saybrook on Saturday, Jan. 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. The primary activity will be cutting unwanted invasive plants, which are easier to access during the winter months.

Participants should plan to walk about one mile to the cutting site, work for about 1 hour and 20 minutes, then return to the parking lot. Volunteers should bring clippers or long-handled loppers (or borrow ones provided) and wear boots and gloves that resist thorns. High school students in search of community service hours are welcome.

To register, visit bit.ly/Preserve_Stewardship. The event be delayed to Sunday, Jan. 9, if the morning forecast shows a daytime high temperature of less than 30 degrees or any form of precipitation during the afternoon.

For additional information, last minute updates, or future stewardship dates, call Kathy Connolly at 860-510-2136.
