Nibbles: Campari Tomatoes

I think you know how much I love tomatoes. I just ordered another case (12, 28-ounce cans of peeled Muir Glen tomatoes). And I am sure those of us who love local tomatoes dislike the cardboard-like, hard-as-a-rock, tasteless winter tomatoes.

I spend every New England winter trying better-tasting tomatoes. Recently, I bought Campari Tomatoes at Costco. You get two pounds, still on its stems, that the Mexican company calls “The Tomato Lover’s Tomatoes.” They are fairly little (It takes two of them to top sweet onions and cream cheese on a bagel), but they are fruity and juicy and, with just a shake of salt, taste pretty good. I go through 2 pounds in a week, and this doesn’t include the canned tomatoes I cook with.
