12/01/2021 11:01 PMClinton Art Society (CAS) will host a major exhibition on the shoreline through Jan. 27, 2022. The festive holiday reception is open to all members and the public on Thursday, Dec. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Exhibition winners will feature the work of Mike Eagle, Mary C. Daly, RSM, Beverly A. Schirmeier, and Maureen Wikinson. These artists won the CAS Members Exhibition Award during the 2021 season of exhibits. The exhibit will allow these artists to showcase a broader range of their work. Each artist will display 20 works. The exhibition will take place at Andrews Memorial Town Hall, 54 East Main Street, Clinton. Gallery hours are Monday to Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Daly, a Sister of Mercy for more than 70 years, resides at Emmanuel House at Mercy by the Sea, a place for retreat and renewal in Madison. An artist and theologian she is experienced in spiritual direction and retreat work and has been oil painting since the age of 13. Daly holds a doctoral degree in religious studies from Marquette University. Old Saybrook resident Eagle is a graduate of The Hartford Art School. A Vietnam veteran, Eagle worked as an illustrator throughout his career. Since his retirement, he has devoted his energies to his first love, transparent watercolor. He has won numerous awards and his work can be found in many private collections. A graduate of Wayne State University and Lyme Art Academy, Westbrook resident Schiemeier is inspired by the color and light used by the Lyme Impressionists for her oil paintings and pastels. All of her landscapes are done en plein air, outdoors on location. Her work has garnered numerous prizes and can be seen throughout the region. Wilkinson has taught watercolor classes and workshops for years.
