The Old Stone Church, First Congregational Church, 251 Main Street, East Haven will host its 79th consecutive Christmas Fair on Friday, Nov. 5 from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free. Masks will be required to enter.

The Christmas Fair is a central fundraiser for the church and it is an annual time to see old friends and make new ones. The familiar steeple, a symbol of East Haven, has been a guiding light for the community. The church was built in 1774 and was added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1982. The event has grown every year since it started 1942 and takes over the fellowship hall, parlor, and education wing. The fair theme this year is Christmas at Old Stone Church.

Features include The Country Kitchen with home baked goods, handmade canned goods, specialty breads, and gifts in a jar. There also will be a large assortment of raffle gift baskets.

Lunch will be served and will include the Old Stone Church’s famous baked beans. Homemade candies, popcorn, and dipped apples will be available in the education wing.

Local vendors will offer crafts for sale. The church sponsors Christmas gifts and needlework tables as well as a large array of jewelry in the parlor. Lightly used and new Christmas decorations and childrens’ toys will be available, along with a white elephant sale area. The Early Learning Center will provide activities for young children and the Old Stone Village Childcare center will welcome Santa Claus from 10 a.m. to noon. The Thrift Shop will also be open throughout the fair. For historical tours, inquire at the church office by calling 203-467-2907.
