Harlem Shuffle by Colson Whitehead


Colson Whitehead’s latest takes the reader to 1960s Harlem, telling the story of furniture salesman Ray Carney, a generation removed from his father’s crooked past, and his cousin Freddie, who has a penchant for crime. When Freddie involves him in a botched heist to rob the Hotel Theresa, Ray becomes an unwilling fence and gains an entirely different clientele. This captivating novel is full of colorful characters and places and is highly recommended.
