Just Do It

Half of Connecticut residents remain unvaccinated, so if someone asks you to keep your mask on, even if it’s optional, just do it. Photo courtesy of David Ciastko

As of May 19, in Connecticut, when people are inside, businesses have the option to require masks to be worn by everyone in their establishments. People who are unvaccinated must wear masks inside. Outside, masks are optional. So far, about half of the state’s residents are fully vaccinated. And that means half are not. That means half are still at risk of catching and suffering from COVID. So when a restaurant asks you to keep your mask on when not eating, do it. Don’t complain. Don’t threaten to never come back. It’s been a tough 16 months for all of us, but small businesses like restaurants and their front-line workers are among those that have suffered the most. How about a little gratitude that they are still in business, and don’t be inconsiderate. Just do what they ask.—Pem McNerney
