The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast event sponsored by St. Stephens AME Zion Church of Branford and Branford Rotary goes virtual this year, when ticket holders can join in the conversation with legendary anti-racism educator Jane Elliott who created the “Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes” exercise in response to the assassination of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

To celebrate the 36th anniversary of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast, the organizers are bringing in Elliott live online on Monday, Jan. 18 at 8 a.m. The conversation will be moderated by News 8’s Keith Kountz.

Elliott has been on The Oprah Winfrey Show and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon among many others and has been the focus of documentaries, such as Eye of the Storm on television in 1971 and A Class Divided in 1985.

Elliott will bring her hard-hitting “One Race” message to the breakfast discussion. She’s the recipient of the national mental Health Association Award for Excellence in Education and many other honors.

For tickets and more information, visit Facebook.com/MLKBreakfastCommittee. Tickets are $15 each household, and only 500 will be sold.
