Persian Food, Delicious and Delivered

Green Leaf’s menu features a variety of food, including soups. On a recent week, they were offering pumpkin and apple soup, tomato soup, and aash, a delicious, thick soup commonly made in Iran and Azerbaijan. Photo courtesy of Green Leaf

I became enamored of the Persian cuisine of Green Leaf while getting food at last year’s winter’s farmers market in New Haven. So I was so happy to see that, a while ago, the restaurant opened up a location at 344 East Main Street, Clinton. On a particularly busy week, I put in an order for a variety of grilled eggplant dishes, made with ingredients like garlic, pomegranate and walnut sauce, turmeric, and more; the Fesenjan stew—chicken in a pomegranate and walnut sauce with onions; and a Turkish coffee. It was delivered exactly when promised, with the coffee piping hot. I’ll be going back for more. Check out the menu at greenleaf-catering.eatzy.com.—Pem McNerney
