Joe’s Amazing Lights will offer a limited-run summer lights show intended to bring joy to the community and raise funds for the Connecticut Food Bank during these challenging times. Joe’s Amazing Lights can be seen by vehicle at 163 Valley Shore Drive, Guilford; vistors may tune into 107.3 FM for the accompanying music.

This summer’s show is 12 minutes long and uses more than 6,500 lights, roughly 2,000 feet of extension cord, and is synchronized to favorite summer hits. To watch a teaser, visit bit.ly/2YoQDhF.

All donations will be collected virtually this year. To donate to the Connecticut Food Bank, visit bit.ly/2ZTASSd.

The light show schedule is Sunday through Thursday from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 8:30 to 11 p.m., weather permitting.

Joe’s Amazing Lights was conceived by Joe Petrowski when he was six years old, with the goal of using Christmas lights to spread holiday cheer to his neighborhood. Since then he has raised more than $140,000 for local and national charities including St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, American Cancer Society, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Guilford Food Bank, Guilford Animal Shelter, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Autism Society, and The Epilepsy Foundation.

After a 21-year run, the light shows ended in 2017 as Petrowski moved out of Connecticut. Petrowski currently lives and works in New York City, where he is pursuing a masters in performing arts administration at NYU Steinhart. The lights have returned for this limited-run summer show during the global pandemic.
