An island off the Norwegian coast is inhabited by the original founding family, now with vague, unsure dreams of a future on the mainland. As in so many fine Scandinavian stories, these people are honed by the quiet demands of their lives and are remarkable. This isn’t a sad story but rather shares some truths about being alive, in a lovely translation very worth reading.
